German Design Award 2017 (Special Mention)
The Swiss-Chinese Association was founded in Lucerne in 1945 by leading Swiss politicians, business representatives and academics. The Association aims to increase the public’s understanding of the other country in Switzerland and China, foster friendly exchanges between citizens of both countries, and encourage closer cross-country collaboration in the fields of culture, science and business.
Process has been doing business in the vibrant Chinese metropolis of Shanghai since 2012. That same year, we took over designing “Ruizhong”, the Swiss-Chinese Association’s official magazine. The Association decided to give the publication a design makeover for its 70th anniversary in 2015.
The anniversary edition of “Ruizhong” celebrates 70 years of the Swiss-Chinese Association and 65 years of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic and Switzerland with a new look. The layout is lighter, the all-caps titles, reminiscent of calligraphy, are appealing and pictures feature more prominently, surrounded by plenty of white space. The new paper on which the magazine is printed gives it a more premium feel. Articles explore a range of topics, including professional soccer, the history of Jews, and veganism in China
The design combines elements of traditional as well as contemporary Chinese and Swiss culture, creating a fascinating experience: readers will find the magazine visually striking and very appealing.
